Treasure Trails Annual Events
Our first event of the year is always the second weekend of February. Participants select one of ten different trails from information we provide.
At 9AM on Saturday, everyone is given a set of clues to go on their treasure hunt. The clues are short rhymes or puzzles leading to the location of 400 little treasure chests. The objects in the clues are rock formations, trees, hillsides, piles of rock, hard mud... anything unusual or outstanding. A dead tree branch may be a dragon, a rock might be a turtle or a shark. Or, a root might be a serpent or a lightning bolt. The clues are easy enough that the kids often spot things before the adults in their group see it.
This is not a race. The only challenge is in solving the puzzles and thus finding a hidden treasure chest. The chest is then turned in when found and a prize will be awarded on Sunday. For those who remain clueless by Saturday night, Trail Masters provide extra clues.
On Friday and Saturday nights, everyone enjoys a live band and a dinner is served on site by a local restaurant for about $8.00. Saturday and Sunday mornings, the Salton Sea Beach Property Owners Association group serves breakfast burritos, 2 for $5.00.
Sunday noon starts the prizes and awards. There are contests for the youngest and oldest on the trails, who came the greatest distance and who has attended the most Treasure Trails since 1966... There is even a contest for the Best Trash brought in, to be judged (and later disposed of properly by us).
It's a weekend of dirt play and prizes for the entire family. Printed clues for this event mean we have to limit registration for this event to 800. So, pre-registration is advised. Registration is $40.00 per entry. Add your name today to our mailing list so we can send you a flyer for our next event.
This is our second event of the year and is almost always the weekend before Halloween in October. If Halloween falls on a Monday through Wednesday, we hold the event about 8-10 days before Halloween.
This event includes a poker run about 30-40 miles long. The cost is $20.00 per hand. It's a 60/40 split with Treasure Trails. Pre-registration to this event, speeds up the registration process so we encourage everyone to pre-register. The poker run is not a race. Kids, be on the lookout for objects along the well marked trail, worth prizes.
There are pumpkin coloring contests for kids 12 and under. A lively costume contest for all ages. Kids usually trick or treat the campsites.
Then, on Saturday night, a nearby house is transformed into a haunted house and opens around dark thirty. You'll want to walk past all the hauntings and ghosts and goblins. Our haunted house is very close to the Hut property so no driving is required.
A live band entertains on Friday and Saturday nights. All Saturday meals are served on site by a local restaurant for about $8.00 per plate.
Sunday 10 AM is the start of awards, trophies and prizes.... There is generally at least 15 high and low hand winners in the poker game.
A fun weekend for the entire family, on all types of off road vehicles.
If you have a good idea and would like to decorate a space in the haunted house, we welcome and encourage your participation. Cash awards are given for the spookiest and most original spaces in the house. First place receives $200. Second place win $150 and third place gets $100.
If you would like to decorate a space in the haunted house, please email us and return it by September 15. Be sure to include your name, mailing address, phone number and email.
