Please be aware that on January 1, 2013, a new helmet law will go into effect in the State of California.  This law (#AB 1595) will require that most all off road vehicle operators and passengers will wear helmets.  This will include Jeeps, UTV's, Sand Rails, Sand Buggies, and others.  It was signed into law on July 24, 2012 by Gov. Brown.

Further:  For a number of years, Treasure Trails has been dealing with the loss of more and more desert land open to Special Events.  We have had to file for permits and pay fees to ride in our local desert.  There were never any guarantees the needed permits would be granted.  New fees, requirements and new regulations have repeatedly posed problems for Treasure Trails events, and can be imposed at any time.  Closures have altered our events at the last minute, usually leaving us almost no time to regroup to keep the event from being cancelled.

Treasure Trails has experienced all of the above havoc and chaos.  Things we have no control over, and never see coming.  Uncertainty mounts with every event.

Treasure Trails events require purchasing of products, prizes and supplies, acquiring dumpsters and porta potties; printing of many pages worth of handouts, maps and clues; securing helpful volunteers and engaging generous sponsors; sending flyers to invite our many loyal participants to our events; setting up of trails, acquiring permits, licenses and encroachments.  All this and more MUST be done in advance of every event so that everything will fall into place as planned prior to our events.

We now anticipate a large drop in participation due to the new helmet law.  We simply can not and will not risk losing money on an event.  The main reason we've done these events was to raise money to donate to Schools, First Responders, Church Groups, Youth Groups and other Charitable Groups in our West Shores Community.

Therefore, after long and
careful consideration,
the Treasure Trails Board
very sadly announces that the
October 2012 Spooktacular
event will be our final event.

This is the end of the trail.

But... You can still come to our desert to ride.

The washes and other areas that are closed
to Special Events are still open for you to
ride in as individuals.

Just ride responsibly... And...
Don't forget your helmets.
